Mucura (Petiveria alliacea), also known as Anamu, is a powerful Amazonian plant that has been used for generations by Indigenous peoples throughout the Amazon, including the Shipibo-Conibo. It is recognised for its strong, distinctive aroma and has long held an important place within traditional plant medicine.
Within Shipibo tradition, Mucura is often regarded as a plant of purification and protection. It is commonly worked with to help clear heavy or stagnant energies, encourage grounding and strengthen one’s connection to the present moment. Many vegetalistas also consider it a plant that supports courage, clarity and energetic boundaries.
Mucura is traditionally prepared in different ways depending on its purpose. It may be used in dietas, cleansing baths, plant waters and ceremonial preparations. When prepared as Mucura Agua de Rapé, it is traditionally used to prepare the nostrils before rapé, helping to cleanse and open the nasal passages while bringing intention and presence to the practice.
Like many Amazonian teacher plants, Mucura is valued not only for its physical properties, but also for the relationship people cultivate with it through respect, patience and tradition.
This product is offered in honour of the Amazonian traditions from which it comes and is intended for ceremonial and ethnobotanical use.
