Lepanthes volador

Lepanthes volador is a truly enchanting miniature orchid, prized for its beautifully patterned foliage and delicate flowers that seem to hover amongst the leaves like tiny winged creatures. The rounded leaves display an intricate mosaic of lime green and deep olive markings, creating a striking display even when the plant is not in flower.

From beneath the foliage emerge elegant blooms of soft yellow, amber, and rose pink. Suspended on slender stems, the flowers appear to float around the plant, inspiring the name “volador”, meaning “flyer” or “one that flies”. When grown well, this species flowers freely and creates a magical cloud forest display filled with colour and movement.

Its compact size makes it ideal for terrariums, orchidariums, and cloud forest cabinets where both the jewel like foliage and intricate flowers can be admired up close.

Watering: Keep evenly moist throughout the year. Never allow the mount or moss to dry completely.

Fertiliser: Feed lightly with a balanced orchid fertiliser at one quarter strength during active growth.
