Cattleya bicalhoi Established on Natural Wood

A beautiful established Cattleya bicalhoi, growing naturally onto wood with a healthy root system already gripping and travelling across the mount.

A compact Brazilian species with plenty of character, Cattleya bicalhoi produces clusters of delicate flowers in warm yellow-green tones, often beautifully marked and contrasted through the lip. Its smaller growth habit makes it a lovely choice for mounted growing and for collections where space is limited.

Growing on natural wood allows the roots plenty of airflow and lets the plant develop in a way much closer to its natural epiphytic habit.

Care

Light:

Bright filtered light with some gentle morning or late-afternoon sun. Good light encourages compact growth and flowering.

Temperature:

Intermediate to warm. Aim for around 15–28°C, with a natural drop in temperature at night.

Water:

Water thoroughly while actively growing, allowing the exposed roots and mount to dry between waterings. Mounted plants can dry quickly during warmer weather and may need more frequent watering.

Humidity & Airflow:

Moderate to high humidity with excellent air movement around the plant and exposed roots.

Winter:

Reduce watering slightly as temperatures and growth slow, allowing the plant to dry well between waterings. Avoid keeping the roots cold and continuously wet.

Feeding:

Feed lightly and regularly during active growth using a balanced orchid fertiliser. Reduce feeding as growth slows.

Mounting:

Already established onto natural wood with healthy attached roots. Avoid removing it from the mount or disturbing established roots unnecessarily.

🌿 Cloudscaper grown — established on natural wood and allowed to grow as an epiphyte naturally would.
